OPL Week 3 - Recap & Highlights Reel

Following a disappointing week two performance from our Oceanic Pro League team, they have managed to turn it around with a strong performance for week three, despite having to face up against two of the strongest teams in the league - ORDER and Legacy Esports.

PGG vs ORDER

We were scheduled to play both our games on the Saturday this past weekend, with our first match set to be played against a strong ORDER side. Despite some errors in teamplay from previous weeks, our boys managed to pull off a clean and precise match against ORDER - which insured their second win of the split.

Kicking off the match we did give over first blood, but thanks to a strong pick towards the top lane soon after that, we managed to secure a kill for ourselves and also deny ORDER the Rift Herald. Play then began to slow down until Souli had enough of the runaway approach from ORDER - engaging them in the mid lane, with a follow up double kill from the team.

At the thirty minute mark, ORDER made the decision to hard engage Praedyth, which was found to be their downfall. Both Praedyth and Getback picked up kills of their own after a solid defensive counter from our team, which then granted our boys the Baron.

Following the Baron play, our League of Legends team regrouped to shove the mid lane. ORDER attempted a defensive engagement close to their base, but it wasn’t enough and we managed to roll over the top of them to eventually end the game and bank our second win of the split.

PGG vs Legacy Esports

Coming into our second match of the night, our boys were still riding the high of their win prior and felt confident facing up against an undefeated Legacy Esports side - unfortunately it seemed Legacy had other plans for our team.

Although our draft looked extremely solid in comparison to Legacy, a last second Kayle lock-in from Legacy put everything up in the air. With that being said, Emenes managed to pull off some insane Kayle mechanics in the early game to net Legacy Esports an early game advantage.

Despite some counter-plays and solid picks from our team, Legacy seemed to have an answer for all of our plays and eventually overpowered us to maintain their undefeated run in the Oceanic Pro League.

Nonetheless, we came out of the weekend with a win despite having to face two tough opponents.

Coaches Thoughts - @Westonway

Head Coach of Pentanet.GG’s Oceanic Pro League team, Scott “Westonway” Farmer, gave some thoughts on the weekend, stating “the past weekend went 1:1 against ORDER and Legacy. After our defeats in week two to Avant and Gravitas, our goal was to try and get our stage performances to match what was happening in scrims.”

“This proved to be very successful as we were able to perform much better for week three. All of the players felt significantly more comfortable on stage and performed better as a result,” finished Westonway.

Week Three Schedule:

vs. Mammoth / 21-02-2020 / 2:00PM AWST vs. The Chiefs / 22-02-2020 / 2:00PM AWST
